GETTING UP EARLY | 9 BENEFITS OF WAKING UP EALRY

Posted on June 7, 2022June 18, 2022 by Dayanand Kadella

Morning people are considered as dynamic problem-solvers who lead corporations, organizations, and even nations. Look behind in the history; civilization was started from our ancient days. Have you ever wondered how a morning person manages to do so much in just 24 hours we all have? Getting up early is considered as the first win of the day.

Getting up early in the morning provides you an advantage over the rest of the day and wins.

Night owls, on the other hand, may disagree with that. They may argue that extra work can be completed at the end of the day, or they might have many other arguments.

While this may be true for some, the great majority of us have been socialized to believe that we are most productive in the morning hours.

The Science Behind Getting Up Early and Nighttime Sleepiness

As the sun sets and night darkness prevails, our bodies are designed to create the sleep-inducing hormone, Melatonin. Our circadian rhythms, or internal clocks, manage our sleep-wake cycle by interacting with the light and darkness in our environment; and signals our body to get rest. Not just rest but a proper sleep cycle of 90 minutes each.

When our retina, the sensor, detects light, it signals our body’s biological master clock, the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus, to block melatonin production, resulting in wakefulness. We all are naturally wired to be more aware and receptive in the morning and lethargic and tired at night.

Here are 9 Benefits of Getting Up Early

Before you start waking up early, you should be aware of the advantages that come with it, which you may not deny. If you’re used to getting up early, you already know what the mornings have in store for you to win the whole day, apart from the lovely sunrise, fresh morning air, and peaceful environment.

Here’s a breakdown of the many benefits for those who aren’t morning people but are night owls.

1.   Advanced Organizing Skills

Because you have uninterrupted leisure of your body, to yourself in the early morning, this is the most productive time of day, and that is your first win of the day. When you are not distracted, you can complete any task faster and manage yourself properly to start to end the day productively.

You can utilize this peaceful and quiet time to plan your day ahead of time, giving each task a specific time frame to be completed. Mentally planning your day before you begin it improves your overall organizational skills and increases productivity in your day, and ultimately, it fills your life.

2.   Eat Healthy Foods

Getting up early allows you to prepare a healthy breakfast, if you can cook. If not, smoothies, salads, and fruit bowls don’t have to be much complicated; they only take a few minutes to make and can provide you healthy and energized day.

Early risers have the opportunity to make a quick and healthy breakfast for themselves and their families also. Look at our moms and wives. If you’re late for anything, you’ll likely be late for everything else the whole day to night, creating a domino effect to destroy your life.

When you’re in a hurry, you’ll typically grab a quick breakfast like a doughnut or muffin or skip breakfast entirely, which will ruin your health and, ultimately, life.  Breakfast is an important meal since it provides you with the energy you need to begin your workday. Skipping this meal causes your body to seek energy, so you consume something high in sugar or fat to satisfy your hunger and harm your body.

3.   Exercise Regularly

The first thing in the morning is exercising. It is recommended because it boosts the adrenaline levels of your body. Adrenaline boosts attentiveness, which aids in overcoming tiredness and makes you energetic. Furthermore, if you work out first thing in the morning, you’re less likely to skip it because you’re focused on something else that sets your day’s goal.

If you exercise in the evening, you are more likely to miss it due to extra hours at work, a get-together with friends, or weariness. However, evening exercise can’t be ignored. It also has many benefits.

4.   Don’t get stuck in the Traffic.

If you get up early, you can leave your house early and avoid rush hour traffic to get to work. You don’t lose time sitting in traffic on your way to work or picking up the kids to the school. You’ll also be punctual for the rest of the day’s appointments and will achieve your daily goals; easily.

5.   Win over Stress and Anxiety

Getting up early also allows you to plan your day in advance. You’re not running through your day in a cloud, your head clogged. Planning ahead of time reduces the stress that comes with hurrying to complete tasks. Furthermore, waking up early gives you more time to engage in stress-relieving free time activities, allowing you to begin your day with a peaceful and composed mind.

You’ll be better able to prioritize and handle problems in advance, which will help you stay stress-free all day and focused.

6.   Enjoy Quality Sleep

Almost all early risers are more likely to fall asleep quickly. To sleep, you don’t need to count sheep (kidding). When you get up early, your body becomes sleepy quickly, allowing you to have a good night’s sleep as soon as you go into your bedroom.

You become acclimated to the natural circadian cycle, which causes you to go to bed and rise early in the morning. Longer waking hours result in enough adenosine buildup.

Adenosine is a neurotransmitter that slows neuron activity as the sunsets, causing tiredness and resulting in sleep. Getting up earlier causes adenosine to accumulate faster, making you tired later in the day. Going to bed early increases your odds of sleeping through all four stages of sleep throughout four to six sleep cycles normally; each cycle consists of 90minutes to complete, resulting in a well-rested and refreshed feeling the next morning.

7.   Stay Energized

Because they are more likely to complete all stages of the essential sleep cycles, early birds have greater sleep quality than those of night owls. They have greater vitality in the morning than night owls, who don’t receive enough time to complete all stages of sleep and feel lazy all the day.

Completing sleep levels and cycles is beneficial to one’s physical and mental health as it will strengthen and boost your immune system.

During the deeper stages of sleep, growth hormones are released, which cause tissue repair and regenerate to make us healthy and long-living.

8.   Feel Happy

You gain the benefits of several excellent habits when you get up early. It is like the first domino in the dominos’ effect, resulting to an energetic, well-rested, stress-free, punctual, and healthy you.

You gain a sense of order in your life, which makes you feel better and makes your day ahead.

Healthy individuals who woke up early had a more pleasant mental state than night owls, according to a 2012 National Library of Medicine study.

9.   Better at Studies

As the results show around us, getting up early may also increase your chances of outperforming others in school. According to a recent study, students who got up early in the morning obtained better grades than those who stayed up late. The early birds had a whole point higher GPA (grade point average) than the night owls on average.
